The way Sam flinches, violently, when Lucifer starts to say “Good morning, Vietnam!” And the fact that Lucifer starts by saying, “Say it with me.”

Which means Sam knows it’s coming. It means something to him.

Lucifer probably woke Sam up every single day in Hell with this. And we know in Hell, they can still dream. So every dream Sam might’ve had of being back topside, being with Dean, or Jessica, having his family back, being free and on the road, always ended with, “Good morning, Vietnam.”

It means the dream is over. This is Hell. heat of the moment. Time to wake up, Sammy. rise and shine. Hell’s here and it’s got you. Forever.
